A champion for Jesus is someone who listens to God’s voice, knows their special identity in Him, and shares His love with others.
The best part? We’re all God’s favorites, and He has a special plan for each of us!
Being a champion means stepping into that exciting plan with courage, faith, and love.
Samuel is a great example of a champion. When he was just a boy, God called him by name. At first, Samuel didn’t understand it was God speaking, but with help, he learned to listen. Samuel grew up to be a powerful leader for God because he obeyed. You can do the same! Take time to listen to God through prayer and His Word, just like Samuel did.
Knowing your identity is another important part of being a champion. David, who became a great king, was chosen by God when he was just a shepherd boy. God told Samuel, “The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7). Like David, you are chosen and loved by God because of who you are, not what you look like or how talented you are. You are God’s child, and He has amazing things for you to do!
Being a champion also means sharing God’s love. Remember the Samaritan woman at the well? She met Jesus, and He completely changed her life. She ran to tell everyone in her town about Him, and many people believed because of her. Sharing Jesus doesn’t have to be hard. It can be as simple as being kind to a friend, inviting someone to church, or telling them what Jesus means to you.
Sometimes, being a champion means having fearless faith, like Daniel in the lions’ den. He trusted God even when it was scary, and God rescued him. “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go”(Joshua 1:9). With God, you can face anything!
